After purifying your hands and mouth at a stone water basin (Tsukubai), you enter the tea room through the small entrance (Nijiriguchi) reserved exclusively for guests, and enjoy the tea ceremony by performing the proper manners of a guest in the tea room. You don&#8217;t have to sit in a kneeling position (Seiza) except when drinking tea.
